Where better to take your wedding photos than the place you first met? Karen and LJ flew to New Zealand to take some beautiful photos prior to their wedding ceremony in China. It was great to be a part of this special project for their families and friends as the hair and makeup artist. The final result speaks for itself, stunning photos from the North Island of New Zealand and with a romantic waterfront sunset.
Asian brides are known for their flawless skin, unique facial features and beautiful almond-shaped eyes. As a makeup artist, the most common request I get from my Asian brides is to make their eyes to look bigger and more defined for the wedding photos. Asian brides may have monolids or hooded lids. Pulling off a beautiful eye makeup on their wedding day has nothing to do with their ethnicity, but depends on the skills of the makeup artist.
When it comes to creating a soft romantic smokey eye on hooded and Asian lids, the eye makeup application technique is quite different. For this type of eyelid the aim is to deepen the crease, or if there is no crease, to create the illusion of one. The best colour palette for Asian eyes are warm shades of brown and golden tones to compliment their warm skin complexion. A black liner on the top lid will lift the eye, making it more defined than usual. Adding a few individual false lashes at the outer corner, really helps to open the eye without making it too dramatic.
